Motheo Mashego was born in Mbombela and started playing drums in church when he was eight. A childhood introduction to music became a lifelong pursuit.
His playing is conservative, solid and present. Groove first, nothing wasted, every fill placed with intent. That approach has taken him from church to festival stages, gospel concerts and recording sessions.
He believes great music starts with a strong foundation, and that your beginning does not define your destination.
